Parent Council

The Arts Festival is a celebratory evening of students performing and displaying their art work. The Arts Festival is an opportunity for students to reveal their works not only to their fellow students but to the broader community of faculty, staff, parents, and friends. Mediums on display include drawing, painting, sculpture, singing, poetry, forensics, and musical instrument performances. This year the Arts Festival will take place on May 18, 2023.

The Book Fair is one of the most anticipated events of the year. The Book Fair kicks off with Family Reading Night when we invite families to bring their children to shop the Book Fair as well as participate in crafts, book readings by our 8^th graders, and a treat of milk and cookies. Pajamas are encouraged. The Book Fair continues the rest of the week when students from every class come and shop the book selection with the support of their parents, teachers, and the library staff. All proceeds from the Book Fair directly benefit our library to enhance its collection and refresh its resources. Parent volunteers are needed to help children make book selections, provide cash register support, and assist with the world-famous bake sale that takes place. This year's Book Fair will take place Thursday and Friday, December 1 and 2, 2022.

Pit bosses, roulette wheels, blackjack tables and poker tournaments are a sure bet to be a great time.  Volunteers help to organize event logistics, sell sponsorships and tickets. All funds directly benefit Parent Council to help support the various curriculum enhancements and experiences that we provide for our students as well as our faculty and staff.

As the weather cools down, Parent Council brings the heat with a Chili Cook-off. Some sweetness, a lot of spice, a little competition and a whole lot of community bonding made this event one not to be missed! This year's Chili Cook-off will take place on Thursday, November 10, 2022.

Come and visit our School Store located in Riker Hall. The store offers various school supplies, Gator gear, and assorted gift items. The inventory is constantly changing and so it is one of the most beloved spots in the school where you will find the children before the morning bell. All proceeds benefit Parent Council.

Gator Bash is an annual RCDS tradition that focuses not only on fundraising but “friendraising” as well. This year, Parent Council will host the Gator Bash on Saturday, January 28, 2023 with dinner, dancing, and a silent auction. It’s an evening not to be missed. Volunteers are needed to help with décor, ticket sales, auction, and logistics.

Gator Cup 

The GWUS is a wonderful way to provide uniforms for our children at a fraction of the prices. As children grow out of sizes, parents donate items to the Gently Worn Uniform Store, which are then sold to our greater school community. The GWUS has designated sale days throughout the year, but parents can also visit the GWUS by contacting our parent volunteers at gwus@rcds.org to set up an appointment. 

Parent Council takes Halloween to a new Spooktacular level with its annual Halloween Party for children in Nursery through 4^th grade. Blake Gymnasium is completely transformed over three days to become a kid-friendly Halloween scene. Join us as we host a DJ, a face painting booth, a mad scientist station, arts and crafts, carnival games, and tasty treats! This year's Halloween Party takes place on Friday, October 28, 2022.

This is a team of hardworking individuals that really help support our pillar of kindness and find opportunities to incorporate service learning into the every day lives of our students. Volunteers can help with one single project or can help with the umbrella of projects that the Kindness Committee heads, which include Coat Drives, Food Drives, the Giving Tree, and other community service initiatives.

Shelving books, updating collections, repairing bindings, and identifying trends in checkouts are all in the job description of a Library Volunteer. If you have some extra time in the mornings and would like to help keep our library pristine and cutting-edge, then please volunteer to help out on this crew.

Dance with your Darling and Boogie with your Boy are two special evenings for parents to spend with their daughters and sons. All parent figures are welcome to accompany your child including a grandparent, uncle/aunt, or other significant role model. Dance with your Darling takes place on Friday, February 3, 2023 and Boogie with you Boy takes place on Friday, March 31, 2023.

While we are thankful for our faculty and staff every day of the year, we like to show them just how special they are during a week in May. Teacher giveaways, raffles, and scrumptious meals are just a few ways we try to show our appreciation. Volunteers are always needed to bake and organize for these fun events. This year's appreciation luncheon will take place on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 and the appreciation breakfast will take place on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

Each spring The Rumson Country Day School hosts its Annual Rummage Sale, popularly known as “Whale of a Sale”. One of the most important fundraisers at RCDS, the sale raises proceeds devoted to the tuition assistance program in addition to benefiting other local charities. A true group effort, the entire RCDS community works together to collect, sort and display an impressive collection of donated items – from boutique treasures to household and family necessities that excite hundreds of local shoppers. This year's Whale of a Sale will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23, 2023.
