About the Campaign

A Letter from the Head of School

Dear RCDS Family,

In 2026, The Rumson Country Day School will celebrate our 100th anniversary. For generations, our School has prepared our alumni for success in secondary school and beyond. Our academics are exceptional, our traditions are cherished and timeless, and, just as we value success in the classroom, we prioritize ensuring that our students are kind, honest, responsible, and respectful citizens both in school and in the wider community.

As we look to our second century, I am honored to announce our first capital campaign in many years: Our Best Endeavor - The Second Century Campaign for RCDS. This historic effort reflects our commitment to ensuring that our facilities are comparable to the extraordinary academic and extracurricular programs they support. Building upon the campus improvements made in the summer of 2024 – the construction of our cutting-edge Innovation Lab, our spectacular new Library in the former Little Gym, and our refreshed and updated Woodshop – our vision includes modernizing the campus spaces that define the RCDS experience: the historic Dining Room, the beloved Blake Gym, and the Upper School, as well as creating a new Student Commons and an all-purpose room to enhance collaboration, connection, and community among students, faculty and staff, parents, and visitors. While we will always remain faithful to the principles and traditions that have long characterized a Rumson Country Day School education – ideals that have served generations of alumni well – we also recognize the need to prepare our students for the world of work and school that they will enter when they graduate from RCDS, and these campus improvements will mark a significant step toward that goal.

For decades, the strength and spirit of The Rumson Country Day School have been fueled by the generosity of our parents, alumni, and friends, and, in order to succeed in this effort, we will need everyone’s support. Today, we invite you to join us in this transformative campaign. Together, we can honor our storied past, enhance our present, and build a campus that is worthy of our exceptional School and inspires future generations of RCDS students. Together, we can ensure that for the next one hundred years, The Rumson Country Day School remains a place where tradition and innovation unite to shape tomorrow’s leaders.

Sincerely,
Dr. Carson T. Smith, P '22, '27
Head of School
