After School Enrichment

Colorful hand printsBeginning, Monday April 16, RCDS will be offering our spring session of after-school enrichment programs in a variety of D.R.E.A.M. (Design, Robotics, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) subjects. Registration is limited and these classes are open to RCDS students and students from neighboring schools in our community. Classes will take place at RCDS 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm, Monday through Thursday and will be taught by RCDS faculty and guest instructors*. Additionally, we will be offering Beginners yoga on Fridays, 12:45pm-1:45pm.

Tuition for all After-School Enrichment Courses will be $250.00. Please see below for more specific details. Financial Aid is available for qualified applicants. Please direct questions to afterschool@rcds.org

*Please note all RCDS employees, staff, and guest instructors have completed a background check.

Art Sparks!- CLOSED

Join us in the art room to explore art history, contemporary art, and design fundamentals creating art inspired by the fabulous season of spring. Projects will be tail0red to the interests of the group. A variety of materials will be available: including clay, paint, printing inks, and fiber arts.

Chess - Experienced

Mondays - 3:45 - 4:45 pm

April 16 - May 21
Grades: 1st grade and above (students will be leveled by age and experience level)

This Chess program is designed for experienced players and will evolve as the skill level of the players evolves. As with beginner’s chess, an emphasis will be placed on building skills in chess through visualization and principles.

Tech Tuesdays- Introduction to Coding for Girls

Tuesdays - 3:45 - 4:45 pm

April 17 - May 22
Grades: 4 -8 (students will be grouped based on age and experience)

Girls can do anything with code, like design fashion, build an app, even create something that will help save the world. We will cover, javascript, html, css, using learning websites and a desktop IDE.

*Limited to 12 students

Knitting- Introductory Course

April 17 - May 22
Grades: 2nd grade and above (students will be grouped by age and experience)

Children will learn how to knit! It is a hobby that can last a life-time! Students will need size 10 6mm needles and smooth, medium weight yarn (Lion's Brand, available at AC Moore and other local shops is recommended).

Chess- Beginners and Experienced- CLOSED

April 19- May 24
Grades: Beginners and above (students will be leveled by age and experience level)

This introductory Chess program is designed for new players and will evolve as the skill level of the players evolves. Emphasis will be placed on learning to play chess through visualization and principles. Experienced players will focus on advanced skills and will be grouped by age.

Tap for Beginners- CLOSED

April 19- May 24
Grades: Beginners and 1st Grade

This class is designed to introduce students to tap dance. Learning these basic tap skills will allow the students to experience a unique style of dance while improving their sense of rhythm and overall coordination. All you need is Tap shoes! Yoga for Beginners

Grades: Beginners through 2nd Grade

Expanding HoriZens Yoga provides children of all ages with an environment of support and encouragement allowing them to reach for their dreams and help them to realize they have endless potential. Each practice will allow children to have fun while we explore yoga through storytelling, playful poses, games, imagination, creativity, positive messages, laughter and relaxation. Children are also given tools that they need to love themselves and to treat the world with kindness therefore cultivating inner peace.
