After School Enrichment

 

Fall, 2019 After-School Enrichment
Begins on Monday, October 14

Beginning, Monday October 14, 2019, RCDS will be offering our fall session of after-school enrichment programs. Registration is limited and these classes are open to RCDS students and students from neighboring schools in our community. Classes will take place at RCDS, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for 8 weeks and will be taught by RCDS faculty and guest instructors*.

Chess - CLASS FULL!
Grades 1-5
Mondays 3:30-4:30
Instructor: Miss Church

Our chess program is designed for beginners and experienced players. A typical class consists of a lesson followed by guided practice. Piece movements, check, checkmate, tactics, and strategy will be covered. 

Minecraft - CLASS FULL!
Grades 1-5
Monday 3:30-4:30
Instructor:  Ms. Feldman

Play Minecraft with your friends after school.  The Education version of Minecraft is a fun way for the students to explore, build and interact in the same worlds with their classmates.  All ability levels are welcome.   

Art Sparks
Grades B-3
Tuesday 3:30-4:30
Instructor:  Mrs. Petersen

Students will work in a variety of media ( drawing, painting, clay, collage) and explore the elements of art ( line, shape, pattern, texture, value) while being inspired by the changing seasons. 

Math games with Mrs. Campanella!
Grades 3-5
Tuesday 3:30-4:30
Instructor:  Mrs. Campanella

Join us after school for exciting hands-on activities that will provide practice and development of many math concepts in grades 3-5. Math games are a fun way to build math skills and practice problem-solving. Engage in meaningful and effective games with friends while extending learning and knowledge! 

Full STEAM Ahead! - CLASS FULL!
Grades B-2
Thursday 3:30-4:40
Instructor:  Mrs. Bogdon

STEAM holiday challenges will see students make pumpkin catapults, turkeys trot, reindeer fly and light menorahs.  In this interactive hour student will use science, technology, engineering, art and math to plan and then create and fine tune various fall and winter inspired STEAM challenges. They will plan, create, recreate if necessary and analyze their design for each challenge.
