Children learn by doing. Learning experiences that provide opportunities for children to explore, make connections, and draw conclusions fill them with a sense of empowerment, a feeling of success and enhanced self-esteem. With this in mind, our curriculum encourages hands-on, thematic lessons that integrate Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and Arts and Crafts. When appropriate, we incorporate technology—computers and iPads—to help bring these lessons to life. “Circle Time” and “Show and Tell” promote good listening and teach early public speaking and questioning skills. Artists in residence, guest speakers, field trips, “Big School” reading buddies, and assemblies also enrich our program. Community service projects provide opportunities to learn about helping others.
