RCDS Celebrates Alumni Connections with Memorable Events

Alumni of The Rumson Country Day School recently returned to campus for two reunions, fostering a sense of community and rekindling cherished connections among its esteemed graduates and educators. The events, a Friendsgiving family-style dining experience and a holiday cocktail party, were held in iconic locations, providing the perfect backdrop for celebration and reminiscence.

The historic Chad Small Family Dining Room set the stage for an unforgettable Friendsgiving dinner on November 20th. Gator grads from the classes of 2020 through 2023 gathered for a festive meal that elicited memories from family-style lunchtimes of the past. The room, steeped in tradition, echoed with laughter as former classmates and faculty reconnected over delicious dishes prepared, with care, by an army of parent volunteers led by RCDS parent and chef Liz Toolan.

RCDS Head of School Carson T. Smith expressed his delight at the success the event, saying, "It was a wonderful evening that was enjoyed by alumni and faculty alike. One of the most rewarding aspects of our jobs as educators is the privilege of reconnecting with our former students and learning about the diverse paths they have taken since their time here."

Continuing the season of joy, alumni from the classes of 2016 and prior gathered on December 1st for a holiday party at the Head of School's residence on campus. The beautifully decorated home provided a charming setting to celebrate camaraderie and the spirit of the holiday season. The evening was filled with light bites, libations, and the warmth of shared experiences.

“Serving as the co-chair of the alumni relations committee, I am honored to witness the legacy of community that continues to thrive at RCDS,” said Christopher Torcivia ’99.

“Our reunion is not just a nostalgic gathering; it is a celebration of the cross-generational collective spirit that defines our unique school,” added alumni relations co-chair Matthew Haddad '97. “That alumni from the Class of 1956 onwards would gather under one roof during this busy season to celebrate RCDS is a testament to the impact the school has had on all of our lives."

The Rumson Country Day School takes great pride in fostering tight-knit relationships among its students, faculty, and families. Events like these demonstrate the enduring connections formed during the RCDS educational experience.
