Dear Rumson Country Day School Community:
We understand that this is a difficult time for many, and once again, we sincerely hope that each of you is doing well both physically and emotionally. The strength, commitment, and resilience you have shown these past weeks has only deepened our appreciation of our school and heightened our Gator pride.
Since news of the pandemic broke out, the health, safety, and wellbeing of our students and the RCDS community as a whole has been our priority. RCDS has and continues to adopt a uniquely proactive approach during this time of uncertainty. Our school has set up a COVID-19 task force comprised of current Head of School Jayne Geiger, incoming Head of School Carson Smith, members of the Senior Administration, Nurse Anne Kerr and members of the Board of Trustees. The mission of the task force is to plan for any and all contingencies we may face for the remainder of the year and as we plan for September. RCDS has been closely monitoring all state, federal, and local guidelines, and because there is currently no clear direction as these guidelines continue to change, the task force is preparing for multiple scenarios. We are researching and collaborating with independent schools and consultants across the globe to understand best practices for both virtual learning and an adapted reopening so that we can continue to provide the quality and community of learning that makes RCDS truly great. We thank you for patience and continued spirit throughout this uncertainty and we will continue to communicate as we make decisions for the fall.
When we transitioned to virtual learning in March, it was of utmost importance to ensure that we were doing all we could to support our students and employees during these uncertain times. To that end, we worked to ensure that none of our teachers or staff members lost their jobs or benefits during this time. Each and every member of the staff and faculty from our beloved fine arts teachers to our incredible maintenance staff truly help provide the foundation of our RCDS family. To assist in this effort, RCDS has applied for and received a federal loan under the Paycheck Protection Program that, for the duration of the loan, will require the school to comply with certain non-discrimination obligations under federal law.
Because RCDS has always made it a priority to ensure that all students, employees, and community members are treated in a fair, nondiscriminatory manner, the changes required by these new obligations under federal law are largely procedural, and not substantive. Should you have any questions or inquiries regarding any of these non-discrimination policies, please feel free to contact our Compliance Coordinator, CFO Michael Mannino at email@example.com.
Wishing you and your family healthy days ahead and thank you again for all you do to make RCDS Truly Great.
