Planned Gifts
Increasingly, donors are using "planned gifts" as a means to augment their outright giving to RCDS. Planned, or deferred gifts, such as bequests or charitable remainder trusts, provide capital or income to RCDS for many years into the future and may often include tax benefits for donors.
The Rumson Country Day School has formed a society to recognize these donors. Called the RCDS Legacy Society, it includes all contributors of planned gifts to the School. To join this very special group, you may:
- Add a codicil to your will naming RCDS as a recipient of a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your net estate after all taxes and expenses are paid.
- Name RCDS as either the full beneficiary or co-beneficiary of a current life insurance policy that you may own personally or a policy that you receive through your employer. You are free to name multiple beneficiaries and identify specific dollar amounts or percentages for each beneficiary.
- Name RCDS as a co-beneficiary in a pension plan you have at work. You simply call your life insurance agent or your employer's Human Resource Department to make these changes.
You can include RCDS in your will and join the RCDS Legacy Society by simply informing us of your intentions. Your interests may lie in enhancing financial aid, general faculty endowments, or can be an individual expression of your vision and goals. By notifying the School now, we can assist you in your planning and assure that your gift is directed to a requested fund or endowment. This allows both the School and your family to carry out your wishes. Once you have provided for loved ones, you can leave a specific amount of property, a percentage of your estate, or "what's left."
