Here you can check on the progress of the construction for our new Academic Enrichment Center. Together with our project management team, we will be blogging on the various stages of construction. If you have any questions about the project, please write to construction@rcds.org.
The new addition is really coming together since we last updated you. Anyone who has driven past the school has gotten a glimpse of a beautiful modern structure taking form behind the Rumson Country Day School. Some of the things that are being worked on at the moment are the completion of all electrical, plumbing, and life safety elements. Continuations of the elevator, ceiling grids, interior glass, interior painting, and floor coverings have been the main focus over the past week or so. The classrooms, bathrooms, and science labs in the new building are also being completed now that the built-in furniture has been installed. Over the next two weeks the exterior of the new addition will receive a total transformation. The construction site fence will be removed and replaced with green grass sod and lush plantings with an irrigation system to support the new plant life. If you have any questions about the new building or any comments feel free to contact us at construction@rcds.org. Check back for more updates about the addition.
The new edition is looking fantastic, having the brickwork laid and the exterior nearly completely finished even after a small setback with the inclement weather. The snow, however, did not put a halt on the interior construction. The drywall has already been started, along with the mechanical duct work. The big news is that during this past long weekend, the new, permanent electrical feed was switched over and is now running in the new wing. Phfew - that was a big step! This is necessary to the completion of the building and obviously makes life on the workers much easier. Our anticipation is growing as we are also expecting the new elevator in March. Please stay updated with the latest additions to the building through our very own Gator Cam. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments feel free to email them to construction@rcds.org.
There have been a lot of improvements in the new wing of the school since our last update. The outside façade is progressing with the installation of brick and glass wall systems. Our Board of Trustees and Administration was welcomed back to school by a tour of the unfinished building to get a feel for the layout. Some of the things that will be on the agenda and able to see on our “Gator Cam” will be the installation of the roof, brickwork, metal doors, and window frames. Inside, fire protection piping is being worked on along with the rough installation of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects of the inner workings. The elevator shaft has been completed and the installation of the elevator cab will be part of an upcoming agenda as well as the electrical switchover and mechanical start-up which will bring permanent power and heat from the school’s two new roof top HVAC units (something the tradesmen and tradeswomen anxiously await). We are also looking forward to the outer masonry work, which will really bring out the artistry in the building’s design. Keep watching on the “Gator Cam” and if you have any questions, concerns, or comments please feel free to contact us at construction@rcds.org.

Since our last update there has been a great deal of improvements and progress to talk about. The construction is moving perfectly to plan and the building schedule is on time. The foundation is finished and now the next key element is the “skeleton” of the building. Over the past weeks, we have witnessed through our "Gator Cam", the completion of the steel framework for the entire addition. The next mark on the upcoming agenda is to install the metal decking for the second floor and roof as well as start the exterior finish system for the building. Once the walls and roof are complete then work on the interior will commence for the winter. We invite you to continue watching the construction process of this truly beautiful structure through the "Gator Cam". Please feel free to email any questions or concerns to construction@rcds.org. Also feel free to leave any comments. Check back over the coming weeks for new updates and the comments of others.

Well, as you can see, a lot of work went on here over the summer. The visible changes are obvious - demolition, new parking lot in the back, and a new faculty entrance. A big portion of the library was closed during the summer and opened up just days before school started so that prep work could be done before the students returned to ready the existing building for new steel. The not-so-visible work included lots, literally tons and tons, of dirt being moved. All the underground structural foundations and utility work are complete and the first floor concrete slab was poured just this past Monday. Now you can REALLY see this project taking shape - thanks to our new Gator Cam! Please check back here often for construction updates and remember, if you have any questions you'd like answered about this project, feel free to write to construction@rcds.org and we'll get right back to you. Feel free to leave comments here if you feel like it. This is a two way conversation.
