Admissions Process
Pre-School
Placement in Pre-school classes is based on a first-come-first-served process according to the dates application forms are received. The School tries to have a balance of boys and girls in each classroom and the age cut-off date is September 1. The Pre-school application fee is $50 (non-refundable). No testing is required, but students must be fully potty-trained.
Beginners through 8th Grade
All applicants to Beginners (Kindergarten) through Grade 8 must be tested for acceptance and placement. After the School receives the application, a Teacher Recommendation Form (grades B-8) and a Transcript Release Form (grades 1-8) are sent to the parents of the applicant. Once the applicant's paperwork is complete, the School contacts the parents to schedule a day for the child to be tested. Beginners applicants are screened in small groups for developmental readiness and appointments are scheduled at the family's convenience. Applicants to Grade 1 and 2 are evaluated during individual half-day school visits. Applicants for grades 3-8 visit for a full day, during which time they are tested, using the CTP (ERB), and evaluated by the teachers who meet them that day. A non-refundable $75 application fee includes the cost of testing. The age-cut-off date is September 1.
The School begins filling Pre-School classes in November and December for the following September, calling families in order of application. Beginner applicants are usually tested in December, January, and February; notification letters and enrollment contracts are usually sent out in March. Usually applicants to grades 1-8 follow the same testing/notification schedule, but if these grades are full, testing of individual applicants may be delayed until openings occur in their specific grades. In that case, applicants are notified on a rolling basis.
