| What's Happening at RCDS?
Stokes – 6th grade students spent three days at Stokes State Forest, continuing the tradition of embracing nature, team building, and testing personal limits. Hats off to three RCDS alumni who returned to Stokes with Mr. Scott as parent chaperones and reflected on their own experiences as students: Lauren EISENBERG Balestro ’84, Aaron FEILER ’87, & Trip WOLFE ’90. Forensics & Debate – Upper School students have soared with Forensics and Debate competitions in the  past several months. In November 2015, RCDS hosted its 27th Annual Forensics Tournament and just recently on February 6, the school hosted its 2nd Annual Debate Tournament. Students, faculty, parents, and alumni alike volunteered their time. RCDS placed second overall and was proud that its students comprised the first place team and top speaker honors! Congratulations to all who participated!
All-School Coding Event - On February 1 more than 300 RCDS students and dozens of teachers from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 gathered together in Blake Gym to embrace computer science and participate in the Hour of Code. RCDS joined tens of millions of people around the world who recently took part in one of the largest learning events in history. CLICK HERE for images of students and faculty collaborating with code.
 8th Grade Ski Trip – members of the Class of 2016 hit the slopes instead of school on Friday, February 5. The Class visited Camelback resort with Head of School Whitney Slade, Athletic Director and Coach Paul Campanella, and parent chaperones to enjoy skiing, snowboarding, tubing and good ol’ fashioned class bonding.
New Offerings for Young Families, After-School Enrichment & Summer Camp RCDS is very excited to offer additional programming throughout the school year and during summer – both for current RCDS students and for the broader community. Spread the word to friends throughout Monmouth County about new after-school enrichment and summer camp offerings for students ranging from age 3 - grade 8 or learn about the RCDS Program for Young Families for those with children, infants - age 5. Class of 2012 College News RCDS congratulates to members of the Class of 2012 who have received exciting early decision news for college. We also wish all the best to those alumni who are patiently waiting for college responses in the coming weeks. We are confident that you will succeed wherever your academic path may lead you. We hope to celebrate with everyone later this spring - please send news about your college decision to Director of Alumni, Jessica Goski, at jgoski@rcds.org. We are also considering holding a Class of 2012 event for our alumni and their parents later this spring. Event Recap & Photos 
Carmody School Dedication – On November 20, students, parents, faculty and Trustees joined together to celebrate the official dedication of The Jayne S. Carmody School at RCDS and the expansion of the school’s program for language-based learning differences, formerly known as School Within a School. 
6th Annual Young Alumni Turkey Bowl – this year, more than 75 young alumni returned to RCDS’ campus just before Thanksgiving in order to visit with faculty, visit with each other and also to watch the second annual Upper School powder puff football game.
Holiday Concerts – RCDS students from Beginners through Grade 6 once again helped ring in the holiday season through two concerts in mid-December. This year, lighting and stage enhancements allowed the students to be better featured for all who attended. CLICK HERE to view photos
 Parent Council Gator Ball – Blake Gym was once again transformed on Saturday, January 30 and hosted Parent Council’s largest friend-raiser and fundraiser, Gator Ball. More than 300 attendees enjoyed a delicious meal, danced to great music, and participated in a robust silent and live auction, with all proceeds benefiting the students, faculty, and programs at Rumson Country Day. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and offered their support of our school through Gator Ball!
