After School Enrichment

Beginning Friday, April 21, RCDS will be offering a mini session of after-school enrichment programs in a variety of subjects. Registration is limited and these classes are open to RCDS students and students from neighboring schools in our community. Classes will take place at RCDS 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm, Monday through Thursday and 12:45pm-1:45pm on Fridays will be taught by RCDS faculty and guest instructors*.

Tuition for all Spring After-School Enrichment Courses will be $225.00. Please see below for more specific details. Financial Aid is available for qualified applicants. Please direct questions to afterschool@rcds.org

*Please note all RCDS employees, staff, and guest instructors have completed a background check.

Introduction to Machine Sewing

Mondays - 3:45 - 4:45 pm
April 24- June 5 (No class on May 29)
Grades: 3 and above

Learn to Sew on a Sewing Machine!
This beginner sewing class will be an introduction to machine sewing. Students will learn how to read and follow a pattern, choose fabric and complete their own project all while having fun!

*Limited to 8 students.

Chess - Experienced

April 24- June 5 (No class on May 29)
Grades: 1st grade and above (students will be leveled by age and experience level)

This Chess program is designed for experienced players and will evolve as the skill level of the players evolves. As with beginner’s chess, an emphasis will be placed on building skills in chess through visualization and principles.

Shutterbugs: Photography for Kids

Mondays - 3:45 - 4:45 pm

Grades: 2-4

Through fun projects in class and at home we'll explore ways to create meaningful images that tell the stories we want to tell. Just bring your eyes and your imaginations. Limited to 14 students.

Tech Tuesdays

Grades: 2 - 6

Students joining Ms. Feldman for Tech Tuesdays will learn 2D game design with Stencyl. The best Stencyl games have been featured under the "Best New Game" section under their respective stores on Apple and Google.

Knitting for Beginners

Wednesdays - 3:45 - 4:45 pm
April 26 - May 31

Grades: 2nd grade and above

Children will learn how to knit! It is a hobby that can last a life-time! Available for students in Grades 2 and up.

Students will need size 10mm knitting needles and yarn. We recommend Lion’s Brand thick yarn.

Art Sparks!

Thursdays - 3:45 - 4:45 pm
April 27 - June 1
Grades: Beginners-6 (students will be grouped by age)

Students will explore how art illuminates & brightens up the world that we live in. We will create art inspired by the impressionist painters and their studies of light, looking to nature for inspiration. Students will use materials to explore color, light, and shadow. Students will have the opportunity to create a stained glass mosaic, a painting on canvas using acrylics, and work with pastels and collage materials to explore these themes.

Intro to Tap Dancing

Fridays - 12:45 - 1:45pm
April 21 - June 1
Grades: Beginners-2nd grade

This class is designed to introduce students to tap dance. Learning these basic tap skills will allow the students to experience a unique style of dance while improving their sense of rhythm and overall coordination. All you need is Tap shoes! Mrs Chiaravalloti will provide more information with where to purchase these! Come join Mrs C for some Friday tapping fun! #HappyFeet
