After School Enrichment

Beginning Monday, January 23, RCDS will be offering after-school enrichment programs in a variety of subjects. Registration is limited andthese classes are open to both RCDS and non-RCDS students. Classes will take place at RCDS 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm, Monday through Thursday and will be taught by RCDS faculty and guest instructors*.

Tuition for all Spring After-School Enrichment Courses will be $300.00 with the exception of the Stock Market Game, which runs for an extended session. Please see below for more specific details. Financial Aid is available for qualified applicants. Please direct questions to afterschool@rcds.org

*Please note all RCDS employees, staff, and guest instructors have completed a background check.

The Stock Market Game

Mondays - 3:45 - 4:45 pm
January 23- April 17 (No class on February 20, March 20, March 27)
Grades: 4 and above

The Stock Market Game is an online simulation of the global capital markets that engages students grades 4-12 in the world of economics, investing and personal finance and that has prepared 15 million students for financially independent futures. Compete against students around the world!
*Limited to 16 students.Instructors: Mrs. Diaz and Mr. Utz with expert guest instructors from the industry.

Chess - Experienced

Mondays - 3:45 - 4:45 pm
January 23- March 13 (No class on February 20)
Grades: 1st grade and above (students will be leveled by age and experience level)

This Chess program is designed for experienced players and will evolve as the skill level of the players evolves. As with beginner’s chess, an emphasis will be placed on building skills in chess through visualization and principles. Miss Chess (Ms. Nicole Church)

Tech Tuesdays

Tuesdays - 3:45 - 4:45 pm
January 24 - March 14 (No class on February 21)

Grades: 2 - 5

Students joining Ms. Feldman for Tech Tuesdays will learn electronics and programming the fun way while building a computer with a Piper Computer kit. Follow a real engineering blueprint to assemble a self-contained computer. After the computer is assembled, you’ll learn computer engineering principles through PiperUniverse, an education Minecraft story mode. *Limited to 12 students Instructor: Ms. Dana Feldman

Sign Language

Grades: 1st grade and above (students will be leveled by age and experience level)

American Sign Language is one of the most widely used languages. Sign up and learn how you can talk underwater or in outer space. Among other things you will learn the school song and the blessing before lunch.

Photography for Kids

Grades: 2-4

Through fun projects in class and at home we'll explore ways to create meaningful images that tell the stories we want to tell. Just bring your eyes and your imaginations. Limited to ten students.

Knitting for Beginners

Wednesdays - 3:45 - 4:45 pm
January 25 - March 8

Grades: 2nd grade and above

Children will learn how to knit! It is a hobby that can last a life-time! Available for students in Grades 2 and up.

Students will need size 10mm knitting needles and yarn. We recommend Lion’s Brand thick yarn.

Art Sparks!

Thursdays - 3:45 - 4:45 pm
January 26 - March 9
Grades: 2-6 (students will be grouped by age)

In the darkest of seasons, students will explore how art illuminates & brightens up the world that we live in. We will create art inspired by the impressionist painters and their studies of light, looking to nature for inspiration. Students will use materials to explore color, light, and shadow . Students will have the opportunity to create a stained glass mosaic, a painting on canvas using acrylics, and work with pastels and collage materials to explore these themes.Instructor: Mrs. Petersen
